This work is in dialogue with photography,
the ephemeral constructions and the iconographic
genre of still life.
It examines plants and specifically their
metamorphosis through photography. Their
photographic representation creates an illusion
of space, of proportions and of the
lighting of the composition that emerge as
inherent qualities of the constructions.
The photographs of this series have evident
references to the iconographic genre of still
life and at the same time they include new
traces that advance its evolution- mutation.
For example, the white minimalistic environment
connotes pictures of archival taxonomy
yet, it maintains traces from the tradition
of the genre such as the architectural details
of the environment and the folds of the fabric
that covers the surface where the plants
lay or above where they suspend.
Spatial arrangements of plants were used as
primary substance joined in to firm or loose
shapes. Into the dazzling light the ephemeral
suspended structures appear to become
autonomous. They suggest their mutation
into a new ecosystem balancing in a nondefinable
state of their evolution.
