Lydia Panas

Falling from Grace… is a series of portraits that speaks to issues of connections and trust. In this series I am interested in the facades people present to hide things about themselves. I look at the small details to understand what might lie underneath. Despite their forthright appearance the images in this series suggest a tension. The models offer food and withhold it at once. We are not sure whether they provide nourishment or taunt us with the gifts. The portraits connect to the audience and disengage simultaneously, proposing a precarious intimacy.
