Larry Fink

Larry Fink became interested in photography at an early age and became an admirer of Henry Cartier-Bresson at an early age. The time he spent studying with photographer Lisette Model was decisive in his decision to devote himself to the art of photography. He began his career with a documentary on the Beatniks but like many other photographers he drew his subject matter from the city of New York. More than sixty of his photographs are part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. His photographs have also been published in Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, GQ, and The New York Times Magazine. He has also photographed for advertising campaigns for Chivas Regal, Smirnoff, Godiva, Nike, Adidas, Bacardi, MasterCard and Βank of New York.

In this exhibition there are presented photographs from two of Larry Fink’s early projects, the Beatniks and Moses Soyer’s Studio, as well as from the series Boxing and Somewhere there’s music, which established his reputation internationally, and photographs from the recent campaigns of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

With his lens Larry Fink captures simple moments in the lives of everyday people, moments most of us would probably not pay much attention to. But when we look carefully at these snapshots we become aware of the unique atmosphere and magic they emit and the way they thus demonstrate how each and every moment counts.
