Katerina Tzigotzidou

Lisa lives in the southern part of central Stockholm, in Södermalm. On the fourth floor, in a 20 square meter apartment. From her window she can see the back yard, a big tree, and the sky.

Born in ’74, she grew up with her mother and brother in the southern suburbs of the city. She has always been one to search, living through music, dreaming of traveling far. She was engaged by social problems, the oppressed minorities, she fought for animal rights. She became a vegetarian. She followed various religious beliefs, she went to India three times and elsewhere. She studied. She keeps her eyes open to what is happening in the world, both close to her and far away. She was occupied by the ideas of feminism and socialism. She engaged in relationships, and also she was single.

She has tried a variety of jobs. For some years now, during the wintertime, she has been working in the post office, in the sorting department. During the summer she works as a gardener in a graveyard. She gets up at a quarter to five, she prepares her lunch box and leaves on her bicycle, before the sun is up. There she plants flowers, cuts the grass, collects the fallen leaves. She likes it, being outdoors all day, being mobile. Every spring she reapplies for the job, hoping they will employ her again.

However, lately she has started to be a little tired of not knowing whether she will have a job in three months. She is getting a bit anxious. The future is coming closer and closer. She thinks about her future with Julia. Will they be together? As the years go by, her need for a more stable relationship grows bigger. Even the idea of a child is no longer so strange. Independence is precious, but the loneliness that comes with it is sometimes heavy.
Lisa continues, searching.
