A graphic intervention project on my family’s photographic archive.
Through the manual use of colored pencils, graphite, Indian ink, markers, oil or materials such as bleach or vinegar, I intervene on the photographs to create new realities invented from my obsession and fascination with the anomalous. Inspired by the apocalyptic vision of the Catholic Church, I served for twelve years as a child, and my religious upbringing, I grappled with a profound disturbance due to my sexual orientation.
“Malign Influences” allows me to construct an alternate world without guilt, while paying homage to the family album; a primary fictional artifact shaping our identity over time. The beings inhabiting my head take center stage in this project. They neither hide nor remain silent, but they reveal themselves in all their monstrosity.
