A Home With No Roof
A Home With No Roof explores the space where the artist grew up. A space where strangeness coexisted with the familiarity of the ordinary. Although it was meant to be a place of nurture and reassurance, it was marked by painful moments. Uncomfortable and dysfunctional, her home bore witness to lasting scars.
The project reinterprets these experiences through a 1:12 scale model of her house, allowing for a distanced exploration of domestic tension. Immersed in this miniature world—composed of everyday objects, sculpted body parts, and shifts in scale—she transforms the apartment into a monstrous entity. The images evoke the identity of a young girl in the process of becoming, shaped by imbalance and wounds.
Through deconstruction and reconstruction, objects become bodies, and bodies become objects. Sara De Brito Faustino positions herself as both subject and object, using reenactment to reclaim agency over her body. The work creates a tension between seductive aesthetics and unsettling details, where miniatures become tools to regain control, distance the past, and assert new strength.
