I am less afraid at night
“I Am Less Afraid at Night explores the realm of dreams, reconstructing an inner topography of recurring patterns and personal mythologies. Within the work, night functions as an expanded temporal field, creating a space between presence and absence. This liminal state allows lived experience to merge with memory, intuition, and chance.
An underlying theme throughout the work is my relationship to the world: a desire for connection that coexists with an equally deep-rooted fear of exposure and friction. The figures depicted are introverted and self-contained, carrying a sense of otherness and an ambiguity as to whether they wish to be seen. Their ritualistic stillness suggests a displacement from linear time and everyday reality. They never meet the viewer’s gaze. As in the recollection of dreams, something remains inaccessible.”
