“Shahnameh” (977-1010 AD) is the title of Ferdowsi’s epic that describes mythical events enriched with historical elements, spanning from the creation of the world to the conquest of Persia by the Muslim Arabs. Its purpose is to preserve the memory, culture, and language of the Persians, aiming to pass them on to new generations who will use them to create a better world.
This work takes the form of a diary that recounts the life of my father. Darius was born in Iran and, like Rostam (the main character of the epic), attempted with his companions to overthrow the monarchy to establish democracy.
The photos and files are arranged in chronological order, structured into three phases: childhood, the 1979-1981 revolution against the Shah, and finally, his settlement in Greece. This homage to a “fugitive” tries to balance between his two homelands, serving as a document about a political situation of the last century that could not be more current.
